Lithosphere, published by GeoScienceWorld in collaboration with five international societies, is a leading open access journal in the geosciences. Lithosphere is the premier peer-reviewed journal for basic, applied, and cross-disciplinary research on the processes that affect the crust, upper mantle, landscapes, and/or sedimentary systems at all spatial and temporal scales. The journal welcomes, but is not limited to, submissions that document the feedback relationships among geomorphic, lithospheric, and upper mantle processes on Earth and extraterrestrial bodies.

The journal particularly encourages submissions that apply new methodologies, such as artificial intelligence, and demonstrate the relevance of the lithosphere to the larger challenges that society and the geosciences face, such as energy transitions, natural hazards, sustainability, and resource exploration.
